So I just figured out again how to update my journal
It hasn't been updated in over a year. Wow.
I've been using Deviantart to find feature artists for Susurrus Magazine, our experimental fiction webzine. We've found a surprising number of talented artists in all genres.
Deviant art seems to have a bad reputation for having a lot of lousy art -- and not completely undeservedly, there are millions of stick drawings on notebook paper listed as deviations -- but there is a lot of great, high quality art here, too. You just have to dig for it.
And I've been doing just that. You'll probably notice that I don't have a lot of deviations. The ones that I do have are all illustrations and logos for my website. What I've mainly been doing is randomly digging through the art to favorite the best art that we find. We ask some of the artists to be feature artists, some of it we just flag because we like it.
